Covenant of the Day and Covenant of the Night

Most of us have never wondered if there could be such a thing as a Covenant from our Creator on the first of the creation week. We know the Covenant of Marriage (6th day) and the Covenant of the Sabbath (7th day) must be restored before the end of time. However, the Covenant of the first day of Creator is of utmost importance, because ultimately this Covenant restored not only the weekly Sabbath but every other worship statute – that will be of supreme importance very soon.  Perhaps many of us didn’t even know there are Scriptural phrases such as Covenant of the Day, and Covenant of the Night. Jeremiah alerts us to the ultimate importance of this first day covenant. Examine his words carefully:

  • Jer 33:20 “Thus said יהוה, ‘If you could break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there be not day and night in their season,
  • Jer 33:21 then My covenant could also be broken with Dawiḏ My servant – so that he shall not have a son to reign upon his throne – and with the Lĕwites, the priests, My attendants.
  • Jer 33:25 “Thus said יהוה, ‘If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the laws of the heavens and earth,
  • Jer 33:26 then I would also reject the descendants of Yaʽaqoḇ and Dawiḏ My servant, so that I should not take of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Aḇraham, Yitsḥaq, and Yaʽaqoḇ. For I shall turn back their captivity, and have compassion on them.’ ”

Just briefly examine the following phrase carefully:

I would also reject the descendants of Ya’aqob, and Dawid My servant….

These words right here (from the verses above) are the serious ones. Basically, if WE (or any of mankind) think we can make YaHuWaH break His covenant of the day or His covenant of the night, THEN HE also can break His covenant (implemented before the foundation of the world), about sending His Son through the seed of Dawid, Who is the only One that can pay the death penalty (for the broken covenant containing all of His Laws). This is HUGE and serious!

How thankful we can be that YaHuWaH ‘cannot’ break His covenant … and He ‘did not’ break His covenant to send His Son. Therefore, the Covenant of the Day and His Covenant of the Night has not changed even if mankind thinks it has.  YaHuWaH’s people have been the ones that actually broke His Original Covenant of the Day and Night about 2400 years ago by accepting the pagan sunset as the commencement of every day, including the Sabbath.  It is now time to restore the true covenant… by us!

This is the first chart in this set.

I just wanted you to note the very MOST important part on the chart as noted below in the white box. It seems to me, this is the stumbling block for most people right here. The first ‘morning light’ (or the first breaking of the day, with the very first faint rays of light [from YaHuWaH on days 1-4, or from the sun on the days thereafter]) has a dual job description.

  • This morning light ENDS the previous 24-hour cycle (including the Light Season and the Night Season)
  • This morning light also BEGINS the NEW 24-hour cycle (at the same time).
  • The evening twilight does not have this capability or job description. The evening twilight ENDS only the Light Season of 12 hours. There are still 12 more hours to go to complete the 24-hour cycle.
  • However, always remember, because both ‘evening and morning’ twilights are a ‘mixture of light and night’ they automatically belong to the LIGHT Season because of the presence of LIGHT in the mixture. (The Night Season has NO light from the Light Season whatsoever. Today our light during the LIGHT Season comes from the sun. There is never any sunlight in the sky on the Night Season.)

Two Hebrew Definitions for the word ‘day’ <yom H3117>

1st Def. = 12 hours … the hot part of the day (morning to evening – including twilights)

2nd Def. = 24 hours … the full cycle (morning to morning)

Genesis 1:5b … and the evening and the morning were the first day.

The question is: “If the day begins in the morning, why does the Genesis account mention ‘evening’ first?”

The 1st fact is: On the 1st day of creation, LIGHT was given first, even before any ‘break of day’ or ‘morning twilight’.

The 2nd fact is: Both ‘evening’ and ‘morning’ twilights are mixtures of ‘light and night’.

Therefore, both twilights belong to only the Day Season according to Biblical Hebrew definitions.

The 2nd Day of Creation provides the complete pattern for every following cycle. The definitions for ‘day’ [H3117] do not change.)

1st Def. = 12 hours … the hot part of the day (morning to evening – including twilights)

2nd Def. = 24 hours … the full cycle (morning to morning)

Genesis 1:8b … and the evening and the morning were the second day.

Many Sabbatarians believe Friday sunset (or evening) begins the Sabbath day. When asked about this, they continually quote:

Genesis 1:5b … and the evening and the morning were the first day.

Let’s chart this literally just as it reads in the last 10 words of Genesis 1:5. This is how it would look reading the notes in order of #1, #2, #3, and #4:

Friend, literally interpreting the last 10 words of Genesis 1:5 does not appear to turn out as we expected.  This would indicate that we need to carefully read the first 80 words of Genesis 1 (strictly in context), and also remember the Scriptures listed below, that it is impossible for your Creator to break His Covenant of the Day and Night.

Psalms 89:34  “I shall not profane My covenant, Neither would I change what has gone out from My lips.
