True humility vs. pride dressed up in false humility

What kind of bride will He choose for His Son?

Certainly not someone like the two sisters of Cinderella who were so full of themselves that they were totally blind to their inner arrogant ugliness that had made them outwardly hideous.

In her humility Cinderella did not consider herself at all worthy to be the prince’s bride. Please forgive me for using a fairy tale. But I use it only to illustrate a very important truth.

I am convinced that amongst the redeemed one day, there are going to be two groups of very surprised and shocked people.

One group will be those who really expected that they would be part of the bride, and suddenly discover with total unbelief that they are not! Their entire spiritual journey had consisted of preparing for the position they secretly knew that they deserved.

They had prepared for it with religious fervor and had completely neglected the indispensable relationship aspect that the Bridegroom desires most in His bride.

The second group are those who find themselves to be part of the bride. They will be even more shocked, for never in their wildest dreams did they ever expect to be there.

To be part of the bride was not something that they were striving to achieve, for they knew that they were not worthy of that exalted position.

They had just concentrated on loving their King and Redeemer with no exalted expectations. Their attitude was that of the psalmist who hoped and would be satisfied with being a lowly door keeper in the house of the King.

O YaHuWaH Elohim of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O Elohim of Yaakob. Selah. Behold, O Elohim our shield, and look upon the face of Your anointed. For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my Elohim, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. (Ps.84:8-10)

This is the kind of sincere humility that the Father is looking for in the bride that He will choose for His Son.

For the eyes of YaHuWaH run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him. (2Chr.16:9)

Never in a million years did the bride ever imagine her heart to be perfect toward Him. But He who searches and knows every heart will immediately recognize this essential character trait.

He sees that they are not concentrating upon Him because they desperately want to be part of His bride. Rather, they love Him with all their heart and want to please Him in everything they do.

His bride is thus motivated by her sincere love for Him, not by an egotistical desire to be His bride.

The thing about humility is that the truly humble person is not even aware that he is humble. The moment he thinks he is, pride has already taken root.
